Diamond Tool Re-lapping Polishing

When replacing a tool, we carefully remove all wear and tear on the cutting edge by removing the upper layer of the diamond. It is important to remove just enough diamond to ensure that the entire rough surface is removed and a new smooth layer of diamond is exposed. Besides checking for edge waviness, we also ensure that the profile of the diamond is shaped to its original form.

Our manufacturing facility is conveniently located in Singapore. Our trained technicians can offer fast and efficient turnaround for the tools because all the polishing and repair jobs are done in our facility. Diamond tools can be restored to their original condition within 5 to 7 days. Constant repair and inspection of diamond tools can also help companies save on the number of tools they need to purchase. Periodical check is very important for diamond tools as day to day usage can cause wear and tear to the tool. These cracks can develop into large cracks if they are not repaired in time. We can work out a proposed maintenance schedule for your tools so that you can maximize the use of the tool. This can lead to substantial cost savings in the long run for your company.

The number of re-laps per tool depends on the application, the spindle used, the type of material cut, the angle of cut, the profile of the tool, and the machinist. On average, a tool used for roughing purposes is subjected to wear and tear more than a finishing tool. We estimate that it can be re-lapped about 20-40 times while a tool used for finishing purposes can be re-lapped about 50-70 times.

Profile / Tool alteration

Occasionally, changes in product requirement will require production lines to change their tool set. Our trained technician can provide valuable recommendation to customer and evaluate if their current tool set is suitable for modification. By being able to change the profile of the diamond tools, companies can reduce their operational cost by reducing the number of tools they need to purchase.
